As an 80’s baby, I needed to created a jacket that pays homage to that era. I was so into creating this perfect silhouette made out of the softest and drapiest leather. With deep armholes, shoulder pads and a crop length – the LAMARQUE Dylan moto jacket is literally life.
All the styles we design are so much fun to create but this one was a riot. Our patternmaker Richard, who is such a character and absolutely the most talented patternmaker in entire country, totally felt the sketch of this style within his core since he used to go out to parties and make his outfits during those years! He had no base template to start from so he had to create this pattern entirely from scratch. And of course, when I tried on the first prototype of this jacket, he literally nailed it. As I recall, we only had to shift a belt loop.
The reaction to the DYLAN has been amazing. It’s been worn by Mariah Carey (which is sooo cool), Olivia Culpo (& she is smoking, see the post here) and has been featured in L’Officiel magazine. But the ultimate best feeling is Revolve re-ordering it over and over and having it worn by all these amazing cutting edge beauties.
One of the major highlights this year for me was definitely appearing on liveTV for the very first time! It was on The Shopping Channel and it was part of the Style Matters with Jeanne Beker fashion series on October 11th. It was a full on 30 minute fashion talk Q & A while going over looks that models were wearing styled with LAMARQUE. It was such an incredible experience being on the show and I seriously had so much fun doing it. After it was over, I felt this unbelievable high that left me feeling like I couldn’t wait to go back on air and do it all over again! It was such a success for the brand and for me personally since truly, I am in introvert at heart so these kinds of things generally freak me out tbh!
I have to say though, practice really does make perfect. Prior to the show, I had practiced and trained with the amazing team over at TSC which were such great talents seriously! I practiced in front of friends and family and even reading over my notes right up until I had to go get mic’ed. Even though I know my product better than anyone else, I was afraid of blanking out. Walking off the set, I really felt happy with the overall result of my first time on air and it was a major accomplishment for me personally. No doubt there were times during the show that I felt like I didn’t say the right thing or I could’ve worded something better but nothing is perfect in life and we can’t dwell on our shortcomings – we need to move on to the next!
There is something so effortless yet chic of a lightweight knit sweater worn with a pair of leggings and especially in leather – it adds just the right amount of edge. These leggings are from our current KGMTL X LAMARQUE collaboration and they have this incredible waist construction that actual has a thick elastic built in so it literally sucks everything in like a pair of Spanx! I dressed them up with a pair of patent pumps and the DAYA sweater worn off the shoulder. I love the asymmetric angles of this sweater – it’s so elevated and versatile.
It was so much fun shooting the LAMARQUE FW18 Campaign in Toronto this season especially because I’ve never done a night shoot before and I had wanted to do one for some time now. The idea of it was so intriguing and perfect for the narrative. It was dark, cold and wet – only amplifying the drama.
The star of our shoot, Dauphine from Elmer, was the ultimate gorgeous secret agent – perfectly transitioning between 2 aliases in a gritty setting during the night.
I’ve literally rotated this skirt all summer – it’s literally my favorite item in my closet right now even though I’m not ready to let go of summer just yet. It makes me feel so elegant & confident every time I wear it – and it’s been on repeat for real! Good news is that it is on sale along with the rest of the SS18 collection – Happy Shopping!
See how I edged it up with the Onia Oversized Muscle Tank in my post about my recent trip to MEXICO!
Quick 1 week getaway to Mexico for a friend’s wedding! It was so much fun being with friends and having a week to relax! I packed with me only the lightest and easiest to pair pieces that work well together for different combinations. We stayed at the ROYALTON and we were blown away 🙂
Probably the most worn combination of the summer has to be a good pair of denim and a white tee. The AURA tee stands out from the norm with a beautiful blend of jersey and poplin fabric both made from cotton. A little textile 101 here : a jersey is a type of knitting method typically used in your favorite t-shirt while poplin is woven fabric typically used in shirting. The idea was to deliver an elevated basic that you can wear over and over and over again. The fit is looser around the waist for comfort and the added asymmetric ruffle detail takes this top to another level.
I love a good summer knit top – with an off the shoulder look and open back, it’s just light enough. I paired the lightweight LAMARQUE Koemi Knit top with a pair of easy LEVI’s black shorts, a heel to elongate the legs and the perfect ZARA mini raffia minaudiere bag.
